SA Rugby engaged Access to develop and manage the effective delivery of both the Applicant and Candidate phases of the bid for RWC2023.

Key responsibilities and project scope:

Preparation of the candidate file and budgets in compliance with RWCL’s professional standards

Full responsibility of bid project management including the management of all consultants and sub-contractors

Preparation (in conjunction with SA Rugby) of all necessary documents

Project management of Rugby World Cup Limited (“RWCL”) site visits

Assisting SA Rugby leadership to secure governmental support including the necessary financial guarantees

Support for SA Rugby leadership including international meetings

Development of the AV for presentation to the World Rugby Council on 25 September 2017

RUGBY WORLD CUP 2023 HOST RECOMMENDATION: SOUTH AFRICA

Based on the evaluation contained in this report, the candidate that scored the highest marks and is therefore deemed to be the optimal candidate to host Rugby World Cup 2023 is SOUTH AFRICA. It is the recommendation of the RWCL Board of Directors to World Rugby Council that SOUTH AFRICA should be awarded the right to host Rugby World Cup 2023.
